SMWS 59.82 Caramel Crème Brûlée is a limited-edition 13-year-old single malt Scotch whisky from Scotland's Highland region, independently bottled by The Scotch Malt Whisky Society. Distilled on January 11, 2011, and matured in a first-fill ex-bourbon hogshead, this expression was bottled at 55% ABV with a limited outturn of 279 bottles. Part of the Society's Juicy, Oak & Vanilla flavour profile, it combines vibrant fruit, buttery pastry, toasted oak, and delicate caramelized sweetness.
Food Pairing: Classic crème brûlée, vanilla cheesecake, buttery shortbread, toasted almonds, fruit tarts, and mild creamy cheeses.
Tasting Notes: An expressive Highland single malt with fresh tropical fruit, orchard berries, baked pastry, creamy vanilla, toasted nuts, and delicate caramel sweetness balanced by lively citrus acidity.
Nose: Sweet red gooseberries, plum jam, freshly toasted brioche, buttery pastry, and subtle savoury pretzel notes. With water, aromas of vanilla, shortbread, dried apricots, and toasted almonds emerge.
Palate: A vibrant fruit medley of strawberries, melon, kiwi, and pineapple, complemented by honey, lime zest, a gentle saline edge, and warming spice. Soft caramelized sugar and creamy vanilla develop with dilution.
Finish: Lingering notes of caramel crème brûlée, toasted almonds, soft oak, citrus zest, and buttery shortbread, with a delicate smoky impression.
