Straight Corn Whiskey - A Rare American Spirit
Mellow Corn is a unique expression produced according to the specific regulations that define Straight Corn Whiskey. Distilled from a mash of at least 80 percent corn and aged for four years in once-used bourbon barrels, this whiskey represents a rare category that few distilleries still produce. Heaven Hill Distillery is one of the last remaining producers of this distinctive American spirit, keeping a historic tradition alive.
Tasting Notes
- Nose: Sweet corn with hints of vanilla, caramel, and light oak
- Palate: Smooth and mellow with prominent corn sweetness, butterscotch, and gentle spice
- Finish: Clean, easy finish with lingering corn sweetness
Perfect For
The lighter, straw-colored appearance (from aging in used barrels rather than new charred oak) hints at Mellow Corn's approachable character. It's perfect for those seeking something different from traditional bourbon, offering a sweeter, mellower profile that's excellent for sipping or mixing in creative cocktails.
